A Panorama of Hunan Returns to the UK with Landmark 2026 Concert Tour

One of China's most acclaimed touring productions is set to return to the United Kingdom this September as A Panorama of Hunan embarks on a three-city tour, bringing together traditional Chinese music, contemporary composition and orchestral collaboration.
The highlight of the tour will be a special performance at Central Hall Westminster, London, on 11 September 2026, where musicians from the renowned Hunan Song & Dance Theatre will perform alongside the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. The event coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most significant celebrations in Chinese culture, and will feature a specially selected programme inspired by the moon, unity and seasonal traditions.
The London concert promises to offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience Chinese musical heritage performed in partnership with one of Britain's leading orchestras, creating a distinctive cultural exchange between East and West.
Drawing its inspiration from the spectacular landscapes, folklore and artistic traditions of Hunan Province in southern China, the production presents an engaging journey through Chinese musical culture. Audiences can expect performances featuring a range of traditional instruments, including the erhu, pipa, sheng, bamboo flute and guzheng, each contributing its own distinctive sound to a programme that blends centuries-old traditions with modern creativity.
Rather than simply recreating historical works, the 2026 tour also showcases the evolving nature of Chinese music. Alongside traditional folk melodies and theatre-inspired pieces, the programme features contemporary arrangements and original compositions written by artists from the Hunan Song & Dance Theatre, reflecting the continuing development of China's performing arts.
The production has steadily built an international reputation in recent years through performances at prestigious venues and events, including appearances at the United Nations in Geneva and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
